On Sept. 2nd, the awesome program that is Trash 2 Treasure (T2T) will return to Northeastern, and the NU community will benefit greatly from it. Back in April, students donated their gently used items (everything from clothing to TV’s) to T2T, and now, on Sept. 2nd from 9 AM to 4 PM in the Curry Ballroom, students who need these items will be able to buy them at a tremendously low price, with proceeds going to Alternatives for Community and Environment (http://www.ace-ej.org/).
While there is plenty to gain from being one of the early birds who arrive at the event early to snipe some of the awesome deals, T2T is also a great program for helping to reduce waste here at Northeastern, as they take in items that people would be throwing away, and items that aren’t sold are donated or properly recycled. On top of that, all the funds generated by the event are given back to the community, so it can be described as a “win-win-win” for everyone.
At this point, I must disclose that I am very biased towards T2T, because exactly one year ago, my roommates and I purchased a huge, working 50-inch HDTV. For 50 dollars. While I will forever love NU HEAT and the folks at T2T due to this, I would still sing their praises even if I had not been blessed with a big TV, as this is a truly great program.
This event is student-organized, so if you would like to get involved, don’t hesitate to contact them and volunteer to help out! https://sites.google.com/site/nutrash2treasure/volunteer
