Husky Happenings: Midnight Madness, Zach Braff, Hockey, and More!

It is shaping up to be quite an eventful weekend, with the grand finale of Homecoming, Zach Braff and Elizabeth Warren coming to Northeastern, and many more events! Check below for details!

Women’s Hockey and Midnight Madness

Tonight, as the penultimate evening of this year’s homecoming, the Women’s Hockey Team will square off against Union College in their home opener. This game, which comes after proving victorious in their first two games of the season, should prove an exciting night of Husky Hockey. Get your tickets on MyNEU, and head to Matthew’s Arena at 7 PM!

After the game, stop by Cabot for Midnight Madness! It will feature a free BBQ sponsored by the Resident Student Association, shoot-out contests with the men and women from the Northeastern Basket Ball teams, and more! Also, the Homecoming King and Queen, the Mayor of Huntington Ave., the winners of the Banner competition, the winners of the Husky Decorating contest, and the winners of the Spirit Cup will be announced!

Elizabeth Warren and Zach Braff Coming to Northeastern

The Democratic nominee for Senate and the star of Scrubs and Garden State will be coming to Northeastern’s Fenway Center this Saturday, Oct. 13h, 2012! The doors open at 10:30 AM, and you can learn more about the event in our post here.

You can stop by UHCS anytime for a free flu vaccination! You do not need to make an appointment, and this is highly recommended because just as Winter is coming, the flu is coming as well. Learn more here:

Presidential Debate Screening at the O’Bryant Institute

As you may know, the Debates for the 2012 Presidential Election are underway, and the next one on Tuesday, Oct. 16th, 2012 will be shown with refreshments and a pre-debate discussion at the John D. O’Bryant African American Institute. This will be in addition to the screening in the Curry Indoor Quad (with sound)! Check out the schedule below for details on the two final debates:

October 16, 2012Presidential Debate Topic: Town meeting format including foreign and domestic policy
Air Time: 9:00-10:30 p.m. Eastern Time
Location: Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York
Moderator: Candy Crowley (CNN Chief Political Correspondent)The second presidential debate will take the form of a town meeting, in which citizens will ask questions of the candidates on foreign and domestic issues. Candidates each will have two minutes to respond, and an additional minute for the moderator to facilitate a discussion. The town meeting participants will be undecided voters selected by the Gallup Organization.
October 22, 2012Presidential Debate Topic: Foreign policy
Air Time: 9:00-10:30 p.m. Eastern Time
Location: Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida
Moderator: Bob Schieffer (Host of Face the Nation on CBS)The format for the debate will be identical to the first presidential debate and will focus on foreign policy.
