The Northeastern men’s and women’s ice hockey teams will participate in the seventh annual Hockey East Skating Strides program on Jan. 19-20 benefiting several cancer foundations. The women’s hockey team will be in the student center selling pink “Paws” in an effort to raise funds for the cause. The men’s team is first to hit the ice, challenging the defending national champion Boston College on Saturday night at 7pm at Matthews Arena. The women’s team hosts Providence College on Sunday afternoon at 2pm in Matthews. After both games commemorative jerseys worn by the athletes will be auctioned off and all funds will go to charity. Additionally, the women’s game on Sunday will be free of charge and student tickets for the annual men’s Beanpot will go on sale at the second intermission, available for purchase by all students in attendance. If you are looking to match your skating skills with theirs, following the women’s game the Huskies will host a skate with the team, you must have our own skates as well as a (suggested) $5 donation to participate.
