The Harlem Shake has become a phenomenon, a craze that has quickly taken over YouTube and swept the country. Millions of people, from college students and office workers to Sea World employees have been uploading clips showcasing their own take on the dance, to the tune of up and coming DJ Bauer’s electronic beat. Northeastern students have already participated in the craze last week at an entirely student conceptualized and choreographed flash mob in Krentzman Quad.
Northeastern hopes to push the boundaries of the Harlem Shake even further at tonight’s men’s basketball game vs. James Madison. Northeastern is calling for a Harlem Shake to occur during halftime- everyone packed into Matthews is expected to participate, even the announcers!
The game, and the infamous shake, will be televised live in 25 states by Comcast SportsNet. As for the game itself, the first place Huskies will take on second place JMU at 7pm at Matthews Arena. NU hopes to make history, as a win would guarantee us a first EVER CAA title. There will be 1000 free T-Shirts being handed out, free food, including a pregame BBQ, and 50 of the students sitting on the floor will be selected to win free pizza from UNO Chicago Grill. Come on Northeastern, let’s make history and pack Matthews tonight! Go NU!
