So it is finally May, and with the weather we’ve been having it looks like it is okay to officially come out of winter hibernation! Come enjoy this glorious weather (and Cinco de Mayo) at the 30th annual Mayfair in Harvard Square. There will be music, dancing, food, crafts, beer gardens (21 and up only, please), and entertainment for all ages. Highlights include an urban agricultural information area, hot air balloon rides, 150 artisans and merchants selling art, jewelry, and vintage clothing, and FOUR different stages of live entertainment! In the spirit of Cinco de Mayo, watch the Mariachi Veritas de Harvard perform on the main stage at 3pm.
Also not to be missed is the annual Chalk on the Walk on Church Street and a raffle and auction held to benefit Boston Marathon victims. The Cambridge Rotary Club’s annual Chalk on the Walk raises thousands of dollars for local charities each year. Prizes are awarded for the best street art and proceeds go to local Cambridge charities and scholarships. If you wish to participate visit their website.
Last but not least, there will be a raffle and auction being held at Mayfair with all proceeds going to Jessica Kensky and Patrick Downes, newlyweds who lost their limbs in the Boston Marathon explosions. The raffle area will be set up at the HSBA Kiosk by the main stage. For a full lineup of this year’s entertainment, click here. This year’s Mayfair will take place this Sunday, May 5, from noon until 6pm.
