Keepin’ it Cool, Meditation, and MFA Performance Art

Ice_Cream_DayWith temperatures creeping up, it’s time to keep it cool every Wednesday at the Centennial Quad. From 11:45- 1:00 there will be free ice cream, cool beats, and prizes! Instead of sitting in a stuffy library, come chill out with us! Rain location is the Curry Indoor Quad.

Life is about treasuring every moment! Learn how at today’s Mindfulness Meditation session with Buddhist Spiritual Advisor Harrison Blum. These sessions will introduce mindfulness meditation with both walking and seated practice. There will also be time for group sharing and reflection. All students are welcome to join, regardless of experience.  Come to the Sacred Space at 3pm to get your meditation on!

performanceartWe often see performance art occurring on the streets and of course a stage, but where should performance art take place in a museum environment? The MFA’s new performance art program, Odd Spaces, was designed to probe this very question “a conversation in which diverse voices resonate across physical space.” At today’s Odd Spaces Performance Art Event, participating artists will perform in places where art might typically not appear at the MFA.  These artists (Kate McNamara, Tony Schwensen, David Levine, and Sandrine Schaefer) will engage in a discussion at 7pm in the MFA’s Alfond Auditorium (Art of the Americas Wing Level G) following the performances. Performances will take place at various locations within the museum beginning at 11am and ending at 6:30pm. To find these locations and to view a full lineup of performances and artists, click here. Remember that this is a FREE event, and that Huskies can always visit for free with a valid student I.D.
