First Night Boston: A New Year’s Eve Tradition

Will you be in Boston for New Year’s Eve? If so, check out the city’s annual New Year’s Eve tradition known as First Night. This annual celebration includes art, music, dance, ice sculptures, and fireworks. All of the outdoor activities are free. Admission to indoor events is only $10. You can purchase your First Night Buttons in a variety of locations including Bank of America branches, CVS stores, J.P. Licks, and the Museum of Fine Arts. Buttons will also be for sale at Hynes Convention Center on December 31.

A full schedule of First Night events is available on the celebration’s website. has a list of event highlights. You don’t even have to wait for nightfall for the fun to begin — certain events begin in the early afternoon! Most events are easily accessible via the Green Line. All MBTA service will be free after 8:00PM on December 31.
