Suffolk University Offers a Rousing History of Boston Online Course – Free & Fun for All

The History of Boston MOOC offers a revolutionary new way to learn Boston history through videos, discussion boards, social media and games. The online course, created by Suffolk University and free to the public, covers everything from the Puritan settlement through the American Revolution and Sam Adams’ leading role in the Boston Tea Party. It highlights the abolitionist movement, the Kennedys, and civil rights, and it includes virtual tours of city landmarks like the Freedom Trail, USS Constitution, Harbor Islands, Old North Church, Faneuil Hall and African Meeting House. Suffolk University Professor and noted Boston historian Robert Allison joins a cast of Bostonians who show that the city remains revolutionary to this day, redefining education, the arts and medicine by creating some of the best museums, orchestras, hospitals and schools in the world. Registration is now open for the course, which begins Oct. 20, 2014. Learn more at
