NU Bucket List – #17

Boston duck tours

You’ve probably seen them trundling around the Prudential Center and causing traffic jams around Copley Square. The amphibious, Boston Duck Tours vehicles, half van half boat, are large, unwieldy, and a well known touristy eyesore. They’re also wicked fun.

Spend an afternoon riding around Beantown in a WWII-style Duck boat, conveniently hitting dozens of local landmarks all from the relative comfort of your *very bumpy* seat. In a mere 80 minutes of Ducky fun, you’ll see roughly 36 famous sites around the city. Mid-way through the tour, your driver will run you right into the Charles for a spectacular view of the Boston skyline.

It’s the perfect activity for relatives visiting for graduation who would actually benefit from a tour of the city, but is also plenty of good ol’ cheesy fun even if you’ve lived in Boston for years.

You can buy tickets at the booth above the Cheesecake Factory in the Pru right on Huntington Ave, which is where the Ducky Tours depart. Tickets are $31 for students, but if you book a morning tour in advance online, they’re only $21.50! Tours begin at 9am and run until an hour before sunset.
